of the RYDAL-MEADOWBROOK CIVIC ASSOCIATION Wednesday, May 18,
2005 at 7:30 PM, promptly at Penn State Abington College,
Sutherland Building

GEMS IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD : Creative and innovative
resources in our community : exciting new developments at Abington Art
Center, Abington Memorial Hospital, Abington Public Library,
Briar Bush, Meadowbrook Farms, Penn State Abington College
moderated by Dr. Moylan C. Mills, Professor Emeritus of
Integrative Arts, Penn State University - and also a
Township Update by Stanford Gross, President, Abington Board of
Commissioners

A guided walking tour of CLOVERLY FARM
The Rydal-Meadowbrook Civic Association in conjunction with The
Old York Road Historical Society cordially invites you, your friends,
and neighbors to join us in a guided walking tour of CLOVERLY FARM
Sunday, June 5th, at 2:00 PM (rain or shine) The tour will cover homes
and gardens on Sewell Lane and Cloverly Road, the two original streets
that survive to the present day from Herkness’ plan. The fascinating
history of the development includes many interesting anecdotes. Several
of the owners along the route have graciously permitted the RMCA access
to the interiors of their homes and to their gardens.> Meet in the Penn
State Abington parking lot accessed off Cloverly Road. There you will
sign in and receive a program containing the history of the development
and many of the homes and their original families. The tour will last
about two hours, and will conclude at a private home, where there will
be a reception with refreshments and live music. This is an event you
will not want to miss!

THE
56TH ANNUAL MEETING
Larrry
Kane addressed the 56th annual meeting of the RMCA on Wednesday,. His remarks about Abington,the Nation,the World, the role of the
Media were timely, relevant, and thought-provoking. He fielded a number
of searching questions from the audience of over 200. Newly elected
officers and Board members, Ellen Mishel, and Barbara Gross Novack
joined the board, and we welcome them. The efforts of Walt and Lora
Draving on our website were recognized. Stan Gross, President of the
Board of Commissioners spoke about Township activities and plans for the
future.

RMCA President presides at the Abington Council of Civic
Associations
Julie Greenbaum, President of the RMCA, has accepted the presidency of
the Abington Council of Civic Associations. Jay O'Connor relinquished
the post when he was elected Chairman of the Abington Township Zoning
Hearing Board.

our 55 year old civic association. We thank those of you who are already
dues-paying members, and ask those non-members to use the tear-off

October 16,2003,
the Penn State
Abington Pride Award was given to the Rydal-Meadowbrook Association for
commitment and service to Abington College.
It is awarded to individuals or organizations who, though not
necessarily affiliated with the University, greatly enhance Abington College
by serving as advocates or partners in projects of importance to the
University,the College, and the surrounding community. It was noted by Penn State that the President of RMCA, Julie Greenbaum
serves on the Advisory Board.

New Commissioners

Gail Weilheimer has been elected Ward 1 Commissioner.
Mike O'Connor (Ward 3) and Doretta Agostine(Ward 7) were unopposed and
re-elected. Congratulations to all! We look forward to working with them.
