Dec 2007 Rydal Park
Update
Annie Cantymagli, Executive Director at Rydal Park would like to
keep the community informed of the progress of Rydal Park.
1- In general , construction days begin at 7 am
and end at 4:30 pm
2- the roofing is anticipated to be completed
by the end of Dec, weather permitting
3- Saturday exterior mason work will be
occurring for the next two weekends, Dec 15,& 22
4- No Sunday work is planned
5- The construction is scheduled to be
completed around July 2008.

July 2007 Two Meetings
On Tuesday, July 31 at 7:30 PM in
the Abington Jr. High School Little Theater there will be a meeting with
Larry Matteo, Superintendent of Code Enforcement, and Doretta Agostine,
Ward 7 Commissioner as well as Representatives of the Brandolini
Corporation who will give a presentation of their concept plan for the
redevelopment of Baederwood Plaza. They will be looking for your
reaction to the presentation, and your input. Please contact Doretta

On the same night a meeting is currently scheduled about the Deer Hunt .
Commissioners would like to approve controlled hunting on Township
properties on Valley Road between Washington Lane and Mill Road (Boy
Scout Nature Study Area and Karebrook) for the complete 2007 -2008
hunting season. It is not currently being anticipated that either
meeting will be rescheduled, but if you would be interested in both
meetings, please email us back to say so and we will request again that
a separate time be considered.

Jim Matthews (R), and Bruce Castor (R).
The four candidates are campaigning for the position of Montgomery
County
Commissioner of which three will be elected.
All politics are local and this is your chance to see “up front and
personal”
your prospective County Commissioners. It is up to you, so please come

An issue of interest to Rydal
Meadowbrook residents and a call to action : The
Commissioners are currently deciding on the use of Channel 43 and our
voices and action are need to ensure that they are encouraged to put the
Township Meetings on this channel, which is currectly used largely as a
rolling bulletin board with occassional township videos. To learn
what you do to help let the Commissioners know how the residents
of Abington feel please visit

and neighbors to join in a guided walking tour of 4
one-hundred year old homes in the Rydal - Meadowbrook area
1- 2 pm Registration at the Old Abington Schoolhouse on
Susquehanna Rd -
( next to Sunrise at Abington near the YMCA)
2-4 pm walking tour
4-5:30 pm refreshments back at the Abington Schoolhouse

SAYONARA : After many years
of service to the Board and the Community Warren Higgins & his
wife Duff (herself active in our organization & community ) will
be moving out of the area - but only to Valley Forge area so not too far
to visit . We wish them well & thank them for their contributions
over these many years.
A WARM WECOME to Jim
Carroll who took over the Presidency of Rydal - Meadowbrook
Civic Association Jan 1st after Peter Ward announced his
plans to move to Lake Tahoe.... for skiing and hiking !!! Wait
Peter - have you seen Abington Trails ....... and did you check
out the Feb11th snowfall !!!!!
SYMPATHIES : We are very
sad to let you know of the passing of Ruth Komar in January.
Ruth was a Montgomery County Civic Leader for more than 40 years and
the President of our Association from 1992 to 1999 . She was
93 years old. Ruth helped Organize the Montgomery County Citizens
Council in the 60's and was active there until 1983 and helped establish
the Montgomery County Community College, among her many achievement .
We extend our sympathies to her family and loved ones. She will be
missed.
