A veteran Springfield (Delaware County) Township Manager has been recruited to replace Burton (Tom) Conway, who is retiring in January, 2011. He turned 65 in October. 55 year-old Michael LeFevre will be compensated $150,000 as Abington Township Manager. As head of the Township Administration, his goal will be to implement legislative policy direction from the Board of Commissioners into administrative action through the management of organizational resources.

Township Commissioners Michael O'Connor (Ward Three) and Ernie Peacock (Ward Seven) both voted against the appointment. Thirteen other members of Board voted in favor of Mr. LeFevre, who will begin the position on January 3, 2011.

 Springfield Township has roughly half the population of Abington and just over a third of the territory. Mr. LeFevre has been Township Manager for 28 years, since he was 27 years-old. He has an MBA from St. Joseph's University and Bachelor's from Villanova University.
